Capitation

Capitation is a payment program where a dentist receives monthly compensation for every HMO patient who chose that dentist as the patient’s primary care dentist. This payment is received whether or not the patient visits that dentist.

Capitation is a common method of payment for dentists participating in an HMO provider network.
